Mission Statement

The mission of the Accessibility Leadership Coordinating Group (ALCG)is to drive and implement a unified effort to provide accessible Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and services across the University to help meet our obligations to persons with disabilities under the Americans with Disabilities Act as Amended, the Vocational Rehabilitation Act Section 504, and Penn State University Policy A.D. 69. with the support of University Libraries, Educational Equity, Information Technology, Commonwealth Campuses, Affirmative Action, and World Campus administrations, mission

Holistic Accessibility Plan

To achieve this mission, a five-phase "Holistic Accessibility Plan" has been developed following the “Significant Guidance” of the Office of Civil Rights (OCR) – U.S. Department of Education and other higher-ed resolution agreements and Consent Decrees as well as the new Department of Justice accessibility regulations.

This plan is developed to be a holistic approach to accessibility, harmonizing intersections of accessibility and accommodations while maturing Penn State accessibility initiatives.

Membership

The current co-chairs of the ALCG are:

  • Philip Voorhees, IT Accessibility Manager (Penn State IT)
  • Mike Brooks, Assistant Director of Educational Technology (World Campus)
