Anthology Ally is available in all Canvas courses as of Fall 2023.

What is Anthology Ally?

Anthology Ally is a Canvas plugin designed to enhance the accessibility and usability of a course for learners of different abilities and backgrounds.

Alternative Formats

Anthology Ally provides "Alternative Format" tools which allow students to download different version of course pages and files.

Alternative formats usually include audio, ePub, Immersive Reader, Beeline Reader, tagged PDF, Braille, HTML and others. Some sample formats can be seen on the Anthology Ally Alt Format Sample page.

Please Note:

Not all output alternative files may be fully "accessible" or usable. The accessibility of alternative formats depends on depends on the state of the original file. Files with distorted text or scanned files with text embedded in images may cause issues for the conversion tools.
Not all alternative format types may be available for a particular file.

Download Alternative Formats

Open any individual page in Canvas such as a file, page, quiz or assignment.
Note: Alternative formats are not always available in Module view.
Select the "Alternative Format" () icon near the title at the top. A window listing available formats opens.
Highlight the desired format, then select the Download button. The alternative format will be downloaded to your computer or device.
